Importants Notice

If the delegates have already written or sent in their FPS according to the old format posted then they will not be penalized for it, but the Exco prefers the second format with the 3 questions for the delegates who have been given extensions:
1. Does my country support this question
2. What has my country done to support or condemn this question
3. What does my country plan to do in the future to support or condemn this question.
Extension for FPS submission has only been provided to delegates with examinations, that is till the 5th of February. If the delegate feels that they had been pressured to meet the deadline of the 28th of January even whilst they had exams and had thus submitted an FPS which was not of standard, they are allowed to re-write the FPS and resend it, but the email must contain a note stating that it had been previously emailed.

The New Essence

The New Essence

The 18th anniversary of the annual Colombo Operated Model United Nations is undeniably a\ noteworthy occasion, chiefly with regard to the fact that such longevity demands an exclusive logo. With adherence to this issue, the Executive Committee of 2012 has taken the initiative to produce a logo that captures the essence of CO-MUN.

Logo

This logo includes of a map of the world, placing emphasis on global awareness and the interactive aspect of CO-MUN, encircled by the wings of the dove, upon whose head the map of the world is borne. The dove, established as a symbol in 1949 through Pablo Picasso’s lithograph for the World Peace Congress in Paris, symbolizes peace and in particular, the quest for a harmonious co-existence amongst the ethnically diverse populations of our world. The dove’s wings surround half the world, indicating a sense of global peace, while the map seems to rest upon the dove’s head. The latter portrayal depicts the fundamental nature of peace and the fact that our existence should be upheld by a peaceful foundation. The soothing colours, blue and white, symbolic of calmness and positivity, represent both the UN and the Overseas School of Colombo, the host school of the conference.

At CO-MUN, we aim to raise awareness of global issues and seek to counter these issues using a peaceful, diplomatically inclined approach. The logo therefore epitomizes the heart of CO-MUN with its inclusion of the world, peace and thus the essence of diplomacy.
